A Must Read: The Fall and Fall of Mavin Records?

I have been listening to what a whole lot of people have been talking about this touchy topic. Last year when the duo of Dapo Oyebanjo popularly known as D'banj and Ace Music Producer Michael Collins popularly known as Don Jazzy split from former label Mo'hits Records, the break up led to the birth of two new labels DB Records and Mavin Records with D'banj and Don Jazzy manning Mavin Records. The split exposed the buisness acumen as well as the creative prospect that had gone with either of the parties during the split. I can authoritatively say that D'banj left with the buisness and enterpreneural click while Don Jazzy was left with the creative and innovative prospect. Yes! That was what held the two together and made them so compatible. They had an understanding that created a wonderful working relatiionship between the two. Looking at Mavin and DB Records, I can say that they are just mere fragments of the real thing. The real thing was and is Mo'hits, Mavin Records Aritistes have continued to fumble on the State of the Art beats given to them by Don Jazzy and have continued to under perform(excluding wandecoal ato an extent Tiwa Savage). Dr. Sid should really consider going back to the clinic cos he has been a dissappointment since D'banj who he said was his stumbling block left. D Prince has quite a modellic look and should try using his sex appeal to get paper and leave those who know how to do music to do music! Even Wande coal has perfomed below expectation and like D'banj, has started talking on the beautiful beats produced by don jazzy, where is the voice now? Tiwa too hasnt seen her period since she affiliated her career with Mavin Records.DB Records too have proved critics right as Kayswitch and Jsol, The other two artistes on the label have continued to adopt a D'banj-like style. No! It doesnt work that way. That style will always work for Dbanj because he is Dbanj. They should adopt a new style of their own and embrace creativity. Don Jazzy should also best flush out the garbage he currently has in Mavin, or try recycling them to enable them find their bearing. Nigerians love good music and we have not heard one in a while from these Artistes. Nigerians are watching, The world is watching. Who wins our hearts is left for us to decide. I support good music and will always advocate for it. #Bless
