The Super Eagles of Nigeria laid further credence on their dominance of
Burkina Faso, defeating them 4-1 in an international friendly game
played in Kaduna on Tuesday.
They played like champions with great level of experience throughout the hame.
Much maligned Super Eagles striker Brown Ideye was the star of the
show,scoring a brace in the 13th and 43rd minute to give Nigeria a 2-0
lead going to the break.
Both sides used the tie to give their fringe players some game-time as
some of the top players were missing in the match.
Burkina Faso didn’t have big name players like: Jonathan Pitriopa,Alain
Traore Bakari Kone and Bance all unavailable for the game.
While Nigeria on their part didn’t field Vincent Enyeama,John Obi Mikel
and Victor Moses.
In the second half Nigeria stepped up the gear, and Shola Ameobi got his
first international goal for Nigeria, making it 3-0 for the Super Eagles.
Not quite long, substitute Emmanuel Emenike made it four for Nigeria
scoring his second goal in two games on his Super Eagles return from a
lengthy injury layoff.
But Saidou Simporé pulled back a consolation goal for the visitors, scoring
in the 76th minute to keep the score at 4-1.
The Super Eagles have now won four out of their five international
matches, with the last defeat coming in the hands of Spain at the FIFA
Confederations Cup in Brazil.
Nigeria will now have to wait for September 16 to know who they will be
paired against for the last stage of the 2014 World Cup qualifiers.
